How it connects, step by step
- YDM707 on XLR into the MG16XU. Its supercardioid pattern rejects more background sound than a cardioid. Ten mic preamps cover a full band.
- Two XLR cables from the mixer's stereo out into the EL18S's two combo inputs. Then XLR from its two full-range link outputs into the EF12Ps' combo Main In, one per side; Yorkville recommends the full-range outputs for tops with their own high-pass filter.
- Put one EF12P on a speaker pole in the EL18S's top pole mount and the other on a speaker stand. We do not stock poles or stands. Start the EL18S Level knob at 12 o'clock, Yorkville's recommended starting point.
- Mixer stereo out: the left XLR into one sub's combo input and the right XLR into the other's. Then XLR from each sub's link output into the combo Main In of the EF12P on its side.
- Put each EF12P on a speaker pole in its sub's pole mount. We do not stock poles.
- Press Sub on the EF12P to add its 100 Hz high-pass filter, and pick the Concert or Club voicing.
- More tops: XLR from an EF12P's thru jack into the next EF12P. Up to sixteen can chain from one source.
- Use the mixer's aux sends for stage monitors and its USB for a board recording (on Windows, install the Yamaha Steinberg USB Driver first; a Mac needs none). The EF12P's app adjusts each cabinet from the floor.
- Share it: in Cubase AI, which comes with the mixer, File > Export > Audio Mixdown turns the recording into a WAV or MP3 file to send to the band.
